Cefdinir is a cephalosporin and does not belong to the Penicillin group.
There is about 10% chance of developing allergy to this group if you are allergic to Penicillin. So if your allergy to Penicillin group is mild like itching or hives, it may be safe. But if you had an anaphylaxis reaction with fall in blood pressure, breathlessness etc, then you have to weigh the risk verses benefit and if necessary, take the first dose at a facility where antidotes can be given in case of an adverse reaction.
