Brief Answer:
Consequences-Thalasemia Minor

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

In Thalasemia minor there are hardly any signs and symptoms except mild, asymptomatic microcytic anemia which may cause weakness, lethargy and fatigue.
Even many people are not aware of their disease, through out their life and disease is incidentally diagnosed.
This does not cause significant symptoms or morbidity and person has a normal life expectancy.

Sometimes blood transfusion(usually during pregnancy) or iron chelation therapy are required in such patients.

Patient should lead a normal life but should be regular with clinical follow ups.
Patient should have a low iron diet through out their life.
They should avoid iron-fortified foods like cereals, red meat, organ meat and green leafy vegetables.
They should have more of Vitamin C-rich foods.

Severe un monitored disease (Thalasemia major) may cause heart failure, liver dysfunction and skeletal issues in the long run.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards
