Question: I have lost my capability of speech but not all the time. And I am very tired and don't quite understand what I read. What is this?

It is a stroke but not complete. Or is it something else? I am sleeping a lot but condition is better after 5 o'clock. But not too much better. Is this a stroke? Will it get worse?

Brief Answer:
Stroke unlikely

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I do not think a stroke is very likely. A stroke is a one time event which damage happens at the onset. It doesn't usually fluctuate during the times of the day if anything there is some (usually partial) improvement as weeks go by. There are usually other symptoms as well such as weakness or numbness of the limbs on one side, vision loss, double vision, coordination difficulties etc. So while it can't be completely excluded (as stroke manifestations vary depending on location) it would be unlikely. I believe your physician ordered MRI to exclude more than stroke, the possiblity of other types of brain lesions such as brain tumor.

In addition to that, I suggest that some blood tests be done as well for other possibilities. Low thyroid function can account for those symptoms so it should be tested for. Other tests should include complete blood count, blood glucose, liver and kidney function, electronic panel. That is because issues such as anemia, infections, metabolic alterations can manifest those low energy and concentration levels you seem to be experiencing.

Hope I have answered your query.
