Can Shorter Periods And Being Overweight Reduce The Chances Of Pregnancy?

Question: Hi. I am 4ft 11in tall and I weigh 63kgs. I am overweight to my height. I am married for 3 years now. My cycles are regular but I have noticed that my periods won't last for more than 2-3 days. this is happening for more than 4 years now. I had even consulted a gynaecologist regarding this issue and they said that my haemoglobin content is below the average and I am slightly anaemic due to which my periods are shorter and had prescribed iron content syrup and pills and I was under those prescribed medicines. recently I got my blood test done and my haemoglobin content is on average and my thyroid levels are also normal.I even got a complete body checkup done and the reports read normal but my overweight was the only problem and the physician asked me to follow a strict diet to burn that extra fat. since then I am following a diet and regular exercise to cut down that extra weight.but my periods are still short. I had even consulted other gynaecologists but they said there is nothing to worry about my periods being short as long as it is regular. we are planning for a baby now and I am worried that this shorter period and my overweight will cause any trouble from conceiving. do I have to undergo any tests to be sure that I won't be having any trouble while conceiving? kindly advise, please.

Brief Answer:

Nothing worrisome.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

There is nothing to worry as you are having regular periods. A short period is a normal variation in females. Your shorter period and overweight will not cause any trouble from conceiving.

At present, you not need any more investigation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
