Question: I have psoriatic arthritis. Can that cause hepatatitis to surface? Also I am a recently retired RN who graduated a long time ago: :1969! My rheumatologist requested a routine blood test and I am concerned.

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

If you are on a DMARD (Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug), it can produce an elevation of liver enzymes and hepatitis.

Concurrent use of NSAID, alcohol, NAFLD and diabetes increase the risk.

Dormant hepatitis B or C can flare up with the use of immunosuppressant medication.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
