Can Lichen Sclerosis And Atrophic Vaginitis Occur At The Same Time?

default
Posted on Fri, 29 Dec 2023
Question: This is a gynaecological question . Is it possible to have Lichen sclerosis and atrophic vaginitis at the same time . I am a post menopausal women who was diagnosed with LS many years ago but now have symptoms that appear to be more in line with AV which include a discharge ( no infection detected ) and what looks like a urethral discharge

I meant to say I now have a small red blob of skin at the opening of my urethra which I’m thinking is a urethral prolapse ?

Hello,

It is definitely possible to have lichen sclerosus and atrophic vaginitis at the same time. One is a chronic skin condition and the other is postmenopausal hormone related.

Please consult a gynecologist for a clinical examination to get the diagnosis confirmed.
