Question: It looks like voltaren gel and welbutrin can cause a false positive for the metabalite benzoylecgonine is this possible? I also saw amitriptyline also can cause this I take noratriptyline? I need to know I tested possitive one a urine test and the secondary test they use for a back up they use the same urine. I never have used cocaine . My doc is giving me a chance to prove it wrong I did have another drug test given to me by another doctor a few days after which came out negative. I love this doctor and how strict the place is and I will loose their treatments if they do not believe me. I want facts that I can prove along with the other drug nest i have.

Also I should tell you I had 70 nanograms of the metabalite

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

None of the drugs you mention can cause a false positive for benzoylecgonine. In very rare instances, the test can return false-positive due to an error in the machine reading the test. This can be corrected by re-running the same urine sample in a different machine. This is what I would advise in this case.
