Can Infundibulum Develop Into Aneurysm?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Oct 2016
Question: Hi,
In 2012 i had a CT scan with contrast on my head. It showed i had infundibulum in one of my blood vessels leading to the brain. I am taking a health product for the heart that expands blood vessels and promotes the creation of nitric oxide. It is called Niteworks by Herbalife.

1. Can infundibulum develop into aneurysm?
2. How long would a development like this take?
3. Will the health product have an adverse effect on the infundibulum or aneurysm?
4. What should i do going forward?

Thank you so much for your help XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Infundibulum is bridge area in the brain....NOT a blood vessel

Detailed Answer:
Good morning and thank you for your questions.

If you would even like to upload the report of the CT SCAN to this network I would be happy to read exactly what the radiologist wrote and give you perhaps even a more relevant response to your concerns.

Answers to your questions:

1. Can infundibulum develop into aneurysm?

>>>> The infundibulum seen in the brain is actually a funnel shaped connector pathway between the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus which is a master control center of sorts for many other endocrine functions in the body. It is descriptive of a location and does not exist inside or "in one of my blood vessels." That is not the correct interpretation of what is written.

Therefore, no aneurysm can develop from the infundibulum itself.

2. How long would a development like this take

>>>>>> Does not happen based upon the answer in #1

3. Will the health product have an adverse effect on the infundibulum or aneurysm

>>>>>> I cannot say with certainty what type of effects (either positive or adverse) your health product would have on the INFUNDIBULAR REGION itself which is composed gray cortical matter. You state that it is designed to produce Nitric Oxide which is known to dilate blood vessels. In my opinion (and I believe many neurologists as well) products such as what you have tend to be overall neutral in terms of bodily functions. Since they are over the counter and not really regulated by the FDA....there is no need for the companies to disclose any real testable scientific results to support their claims. And again, for the sake of not putting out products that could cause outright harm to a person which would likely result in big lawsuits...such companies tend to put a mixture of elements, amino acids, and some vitamins together making the claim that such a mixture does "this that or the other." However, the ingredients they use and doses are usually well below any levels of toxicity or even any real benefit. Therefore, the net effect is that you will ingest something that will likely not harm you nor will it confer any real benefit to you.

And so, in answer to your question....I can't say exactly what this product will or will not do without knowing specifics of ingredients, doses, and then, the scientific data to support how these ingredients act in the body (and this information doesn't exist). It is unlikely to be causative of aneurysms or any aberration to infundibular function but again that is something that only the company would really know.

4. What should I do going forward?

>>>>>You could try calling them at their toll free customer service line to see if anyone there could answer the question. Typically, they will give you a lot of testimonial information of how great their clients and customers have felt. But that's all you'll get. I doubt you'll speak with anyone with real scientific knowledge or background on much of anything.

If I've adequately answered your questions could you do me a huge favor by CLOSING THE QUERY and being sure to include some fine words of feedback along with a 5 STAR rating if you feel my answers/suggestions have helped? Again, many thanks for posing your questions and please let me know how things turn out.

Brief Answer:
Certainly you may send the report to my attention

Detailed Answer:
I would be honored if you'd send your CT report to my attention for more precise context and to read exactly what the radiologist said for further opinion.

I do not know exactly what the procedure would be to upload but technical support folks here on the network could help you with that if necessary.

May I ask that you close this query as well so that present efforts be properly credited. Then, at your leisure and when convenient next week or after we may open another thread.

Cheers!
