Hello
I have gone through your question and understood your concern.

Contrast XXXXXXX that sometimes used with an MRI, CT scan, or other imaging test can cause damage to your kidneys especially if you have diabetes.

Anyway if you have a tight diabetes control and you have not diabetic kidney disease(at a moderate or severe stage ) or acute renal failure, this investigation is not contraindicated.

The protocol define stopping metformin 2 days prior to contrast if renal function was abnormal prior to the scan (Cr >1.2 mg ) and Intravenous hydration will help until your kidney function is tested and is normal.
