Brief Answer:
Better to avoid.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to HCM forum.

The syrup contains Dextromethorphan-a cough suppressant. Cough suppressants are to be avoided in wet cough. Otherwise this will lead to pooling of secretions in lung alveoli and secondary infection.
Also, as he is not having fever, paracetamol is unnecessary.

If he is not having difficulty in breathing and sputum is clear(not yellow), you can give him plain antihistamines like cetirezine 4mg once daily for 3 to 5 days(available as 1mg/ml syrup).
If fever or yellow sputum appears, kindly see your doctor without delay, as this will need antibiotics too.

Meanwhile, keep him away from cold and dust.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.
