Can Oxcarbazepine Cause Involuntary Movement On The Lower Jaws?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Jun 2015
Question: I recently received an answer to my question (involuntary chewing movements of my lower jaw) from Dr. XXXXXXX Taher XXXXXXX which he thought was Meige syndrome. I am being treated for trigeminal neuralgia and take the medication Oxcarbazepine (600 mgs) 2-3 times a day, as needed. Do you think this might contribute to what is happening to me. I have had two more incidents and am waiting for an appointment with my neurologist. Is it too late send a follow up from Dr. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It may be due to drug induced.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma'am, Hi

Of late after knowin your medication history of taking Oxcarbazepine (which was not mentioned earlier), there may be a possibility of Oxcarbazepine responsible for your problem.

In addition to abnormal gait, dizziness, headache, nystagmus, and sleep disturbances Oxcarabazepine can also cause tremor in some patients.

Hope this answers your query.
Best wishes.
