Brief Answer:
About grass pollen

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I do not know what "amaways" are - can you please clarify?

I have allergies to grass pollens too, but grass pollen is from around the 3rd week of May through XXXXXXX At this point, at least in the US, grass pollen season is over. So perhaps you could try going off of your medication now?

Grass allergy does not usually cause stomach upset because it is not ingested. Wheat can sometimes cause gastrointestinal problems if you are sensitive to that too, as it is closely related to grass.

Please let me know what amaways is and I will try to provide further information.

Brief Answer:
Liquid nasal sprays can end up in stomach.

Detailed Answer:
Liquid steroid nasal sprays can go down the throat into the stomach and cause stomach irritation. If you still have the instruction sheet, take a look at the advised head position on the patient information sheet in the packaging. If you don't have that information, here is a link to pictures of how to lean the head forward a bit to minimize it going down the throat: http://www.nationalasthma.org.au/uploads/publication/intranasal-corticosteroid-spray-technique.pdf

And don't sniff it up - that will draw it up too high and into the throat. Your body's natural mechanisms will move it up your nose without sniffing it up.

That said, for some people, liquid nasal sprays always end up in the stomach, and if sensitive, can cause irritation. An alternative are dry steroid nasal "sprays" such as Qnasl. These can be very pricey if your insurance doesn't cover it. They are sold by prescription.

Now that grass pollen season is over, you might want to take a break from your steroid nasal spray too. You can always start it up again if you find you need it.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
