Question: I am 77 yrs. old retired physician taking 300-600mg of Gabapentin (2months) per day. I am also taking Coumadin, Plavix, Lovaza, Deplin, Atorvastatin, Lexapro, and Donepezil. The Deplin (1 month) and Donezil (i week) are very recent medications. My question is, are any of these medications especially the more recent ones Deplin, Donezil, and Gabapentin statistically significant in interfering with either the Coumadin or Plavix? Thank you, XXXX

Brief Answer: Deplin, Donezil and Gabapentin are safe Detailed Answer: Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. I am glad that you have raised this question which is very relevant especially when you are on multiple pills. Deplin, Donepezil and Gabapentin donot interact with any of the medications that you have been taking and are safe to continue. However interaction of the medications that you have been using currently are mentioned below. Serious - Use Alternative Escitalopram + warfarin Escitalopram increases levels of warfarin.Possible serious or life-threatening interaction.Requires close monitoring. I were to switch on another antidepressant instead of escitalopram(Lexapro). Significant - Monitor Closely Lovaza interacts with Plavix, coumadin and Lexapro -increases the risk of hemorrhage.Though I were to monitor the coagulation parameters periodically (blood tests PT), I would stop lovaza to prevent such risk in the future. Hope this answers your query.
