Brief Answer:
Please do urine culture and sensitivity test and then proceed

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Cephalexin is a strong antibiotic and is given in a dose of 500 mg every 6 hours for 7 days under recommendation of a doctor after clinical examination.

2. Sometimes a UTI can be resistant to an antibiotic including cephalexin and then it may not help in treating the infection.

3. It is suggested that your wife gets urine culture and sensitivity test done to identify the infection causing bacteria and if it responds to cephalexin. If the bacteria in culture is sensitive to cephalexin then you can consult a doctor and proceed with taking cephalexin in a recommended dose and duration.

Hope your query is answered,
