Can Alprazolam And Etizola Beta Be Taken Together?
Question: Right now Iam on alprazolam 5 mg daily for panic and anxiety disorder. My cardiologist has recently prescribed Etizola beta for irregular heart beats. He has prescribed me for two months. Can these two drugs cause side effects as both are used for panic and anxiety disorders.

Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Alprazolam and Etizolam (a constituent of Etizola Beta) belong to benzodiazepine group of drugs. They both have anti anxiety effect. Only difference is that Alprazolam is long acting and Etizolam is short acting.
But i would not recommend you to take both of them together.
My suggestion is that you should just take Etizola Beta, and stop taking Alprazolam.

Dear Dr,
I have been on azolam tabs for a pretty long time and I am used to it. I get better result from azolam than etizola tabs. I would better go for azolam. However Etiozola beta has propanolol hydrochloride for irregular heart beats. Can you prescribe a separate medication containing only propanonolol minus etiozola so that I take azolam tabs. Thanks.

Propanolol is available in the market as single drug. But problem is that dose has to be adjusted according to your pulse rate and blood pressure.
Etizolam is a good drug. You may try the combination without taking Alprazolam.
If you are not comfortable, you may then consult your doctor to get a prescription of both Propanolol and Alprazolam.
