Question: Bare with me, this is a long one to give a better history. I first started menstruating around age 11. My periods have been heavy but consistent practically since they started. I've been tracking my periods since XXXXXXX 2011 (16 years old) and they have always been roughly 25 day cycles with 5-6 day periods, give or take a day or two here and there.

During this time, I have struggled with obesity. I know I clocked in at 240 when I was 14 years old and stayed that way through high school. I was 270 at the end of my first year of college. That slowly increased to 300 throughout undergrad but has been relatively steady since then. Throughout all of this, my periods were consistent.

I also had a lot of stress due to severe anxiety and depression through high school into college including a suicide attempt at 14, moving home temporarily from college due to anxiety/depression, and family ostracization because of this move. The stress is loads better since I’ve moved out of my family home and I am a lot more in tune with my mental health. I am stable and see a therapist. My periods were consistent through all of this stress and the stress of high school, college and grad school. I still have stress, but nothing near as to what I used to have.

The go-to answers for my problem have been stress and weight which is why there is so much history given. I received the third round of the Gardasil shot last April on the same day I started my period. Since the shot, my periods have been irregular. I’m talking 64 day cycles, 4 day periods at times, and entire months without a period. One month I’ll have it, then I won’t for 2-3 months. It has been almost a year and it hasn’t evened out. I have seen a couple of doctors who have taken blood tests but all of those came back normal. I’ve had a pap-smear (at my request) that came back normal. I’ve never had sex and am not pregnant nor do I have a STI. I’m not on any form of birth control and never have been. It’s obvious to me that something has changed but I cannot get anyone to look more into it. Thoughts?
