Are Slight Blood In Saliva And Blood Discharge Seen In The Shorts Something Worrisome?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Feb 2022
Question: I noticed 3 days ago that there was some blood in my saliva when I spit into the washroom sink before I started brushing my teeth. This happened 2 days in a row. During the day I tried spitting to see if it would reappear and if I puckered my mouth and tried hard to gather spit in my mouth it would have traces of blood in it. I booked an appointment with my doctor and will see him later today.
last night when I was out for a walk I felt a discharge in my shorts. It may have felt like I passed wind but when I got home my underwear had bright red blood that had soaked through to the outside of the shorts I was wearing. I feel fine and have no other symptoms whatsoever. I am 60 years old and have had a colonoscopy within the las 16 months.

Brief Answer:

CT chest/abdomen, Upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy

Detailed Answer:

Hi

After hearing your history i would advise you to do a CT scan of chest/abdomen and also a fresh colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy test since you are having symptoms of blood in saliva and blood discharge in shorts.

Also take tranexamic acid group of drugs twice daily for 3 days with your doctors advise.
