Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing in.

I understand your concern. It is quite obvious that his immune system is weak. Another reason his weight is low ,could be because of the frequent allergies and infection, which affects his appetite and nutrition and thereby weight.

Have you already taken him to the paediatrician? What did his paediatrician have to say?

In addition to the food he is eating right now, you might also want to give Pediasure. It contains most of the essential vitamins and minerals and is ideal for children who are fussy with their food habits. It is available in vanilla and chocolate flavours once or twice a day. Instructions are given on the bottle.

Cetrizine is mainly an anti allergic drug. However the effect is temporary.

I would suggest that you give him healthy food . I can see from your history that no vegetables are included in his diet, like dhal, palak etc. If he doesn't like paalak/spinach as a subzi, after washing the spinach leaves thoroughly ,boil it in a little water for 5 minutes , then blend it ,add a pinch of salt. To this you add some atta and then make the chappathis and serve it with a little ghee. In this way the chappati has ghee and spinach. Try innovative methods and introduce him to new food. If you give him the same food all the time, he will be bored. You can give him home made snacks etc.

What you can do when he gets sneezing and cough etc is ; in addition to the medication, do steam inhalation(under parental supervision). Give him warm water to drink frequently. You could try mixing a pinch of pepper powder to 1 tsp of honey and give to him. It is soothing and provides relief from the cough to a certain extent.

I hope I have answered your question. If you have no further questions ,kindly accept my answer.

Any reviews are welcome.

I'm sorry , I'm not aware of sanjivni, sitopladi etc. as I am an MBBS doctor. However, if there is a good homeopath in your area, it would be a good idea to take him there .

If he is eating all the vegetables and fruits etc., don't worry. At the same time, find out what is causing the allergy? Keep the house clean at all times. If any family member smokes cigarettes or beedis, please do so outside the house. Cigarette smoke might be one of the causes of allergy. Environmental pollution, from vehicles etc. is not in our hands. Please follow the advise I have given above regarding steam inhalation etc.

Hope this helps .
