Legs And Feet Swelling During Pregnancy, Had Ovarian Cysts. Are They Related?

Hi! MY name is Tracey. In 2009 I gave birth to my son, and during my pregnancy my legs and feet would swell up to a very large degree, moreso than with my other pregnancies. I asked my OB Gyn at the time, and no matter what concerns I had, it was all "normal." My son is 4 now, and I still have the swelling and had talked to my primary care physician about this. HE let me know I had two ovarian cysts (Starts with a P, but can't remember), and that I need them removed. As I just got healthcare (waiting for the paperwork to arrive, but it should be covered. What is the correct procedure to go about having them removed. Will be my first actual surgery, what can I expect?

Hi,
swelling of legs after delivery may be due to obstruction of vascular drainage from legs or due to any other organ problem or local problem in legs.
You monitor your sugar levels, keep your legs in elevated position during rest, get done LFT, RFT and cardiac evaluation once to rule out if the swelling is due to any of them.

If the problem is due to ovarian cyst or if you have very large cyst then the cyst need to be removed. The cyst usually will be filled with liquid and this need to be drained by puncturing and suctioning the fluid. No need to worry for the procedure.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
