I had gotten my nose cauterization today I have had it done before but this time the Dr used silver nitrate. I have brown skin outside my nose will it go away?
That discoloration is an effect of silver used. It will stay for a while. As the skin changes normally, the discoloured skin will be shed. Thereafter the normal skin should come out. It would of course take time, the duration being dependant on the depth of affect of the silver nitrate. Best of luck. I have tried to make it as simple as possible. Please feel free to contact me. Dr Mittal.

How long does it take for silver nitrate stains to go away?
technically never. They stain the skin by biinding to protein and they cannot unbind. it's a chemical reaction BUT.... Neearly Always... the skin turns over, and the new skin won't be stained... about a week or two. The one time it doesn't, is if someone were actively trying to use it as a tatoo. requires putting it DEEP under skin
