The normal resting heart rate can vary between 60 and 100 beats per minute. An increased heart rate can be due to a variety of causes like anxiety, panic, heart problems, etc. If this is happening to your frequently, then it is better to see a doctor for a detailed evaluation.
Should someone see a doctor if pulse is 80 but pounding in neck and chest. That has family history of heart problems?
Thanks for your query. I can fully appreciate your concerns.
Normally, heart beat is not felt/noticed.
When heart beats are continuously noticed as pounding, there is a possibility of some defect in one or more heart valves.
I will therefore strongly recommend that you get ECG & 2-D echo of the heart done and consult a cardiologist.
Have a nice day.
