You should do some lifestyle modifications:
-eat healthy foods (green vegetables,fruits,whole grains,legumes,low fat dairy foods)
-Look for non-starchy vegetables (Broccoli, spinach, and green beans are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber
-Avoid sugars and starches (white bread, or cornstarch etc
-drink plenty of water.
-exercise regularly (at least 40 min every day).

You didn’t mentioned what sugarlevel you have. It matters in management.
If it is not too high, you can control it by diet control and exercise.
If it is not controlled, then oral hypoglycemic agents are given.
If it is still uncontrolled or very high then insulin injection is given.
