Hi. thanks for posting your query here. A sharp pain behind the eye is usually radiating in nature. Do you have any visual disturbances like loss of vision, flashes of light,a curtain effect in front of your eyes or dark spots in front of the eye ? Is there any accompanying nausea or frank vomiting along with the pain? If not and if this is the first time you are experiencing such symptoms, try resting in a dimly lit room with your eyes shut.Place a warm washcloth over the affected eye to relax the eye muscles.Take an oral pain reliever like Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen. The pain should subside in a short while. Keep a check on your vision for a few days. If you experience any worsening or addition of new symptoms such as vomiting or disorientation, consult your doctor. However, the above treatment protocol should afford you relief.
