This is most likely a furuncle/boil which is bacterial infection of the skin and soft tissue. The infection gaining entry through the hair follicle.
I would suggest an oral antibiotic for a week to take care of the infection e.g cefadroxil 500 mg twice daily for a week (Droxyl-CV tablet)
An OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment may also be used twice daily.
