Generally these symptoms may be caused by infection, diverticulitis, colon polyps These kind of symptoms needs medical attention and physical examination also. I would suggest you to visit gastroenterologist who may perform stool routine test, Colonoscopy may be indicated with these symptoms

Hi. Thanks for your query. Dark coloured stool means some intra abdominal bleeding which may be secondary to diverticulitis. All your symptom can be attributable to this. Better meet a GI surgeon for help... Best wishes
 
My wife has taken cipro and flagyl for a week or so for diverticulitis and now when finished with these hard to take meds has a pain in her lower tummy.
Hi there, Thanks for your query. You have not mentioned if she has constipation too. Let you wife take high fiber diet or Psyllium husk twice daily to form bulky stools. She will improve with high fiber diet, as well as , a course of Probiotics, such as, Lactobacilli Dr. Rakesh Karanwal
