What Causes Discomfort In The Upper Abdomen While Suffering From Pneumonia?

on antibiotics for 7 days now for pneumonia. day 5 started having left upper abdominal discomfort (very tender to touch) and diarrhea. Hurts when I cough or sneeze of change positions then settles down again. History of diverticulitis. went to ER last night had CT with barium. No sign of diverticulitis. Still awaiting results of stool sample. Could this be from antibiotics?

Hello,

I do not know what antibiotics you use but diarrhea may be due to it. About the pain,I think that this may be due to pneumonia from the pleura inflammation since it has to do with the change in position or cough.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anila Skenderi,
