Is It Safe To Take Glipizide Twice A Day For Type 2 Diabetes?

I was just diagnosted with type 2 diabetis 4 days ago when I went to the emergency room. I am taking glipizide 5mg 30 minutes before breakfast. My blood sugar still too high 267 at 1pm and at 7pm is 346. I do do not have a doctor at the moment since I do not have insurance. I do have medical but have not being assigned a providor yet and I am supposed to wait until next month. Anyway should I just take another pil , go to the emergency room again. I am watching what I eat, no sweets at all, lot of water, small portions, and small snacks. Maybe I may not being eating enough.

Hello,
Very high blood sugar levels indicate that you are suffering from severe uncontrolled diabetes for which your current medication, even if it is doubled, seems to be inadequate.
You need to consult your doctor for a proper advice on anti diabetic medications.
Along with diabetes, make sure to control your blood pressure and cholesterol medication also.
Along with antidiabetic medications take proper dietary control measures along with regular aerobic exercises for at least 45 minutes a day.
Thanks
