Are Irregular Periods And Pain Associated With Dermoid Cyst Removal In Ovary?

I've had a rather large dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary about 6 months ago. Since then my cycle has been very irregular (My cycle is now approx every 2 weeks and lasts a full 7 days) and I still experience some slight pain in my left side. Could the cyst have returned or is this common after surgery?

Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) Yes initially the periods are irregular after surgery.

2) Cyst may not have returned but the ovarian tissue cauterization could be cause.

3) Please see operating surgeon for hormonal evaluation

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Regards,
Dr. Mahesh Koregol
