What are the causes for ankle swelling?
Hello. There are many causes of swollen ankles. The most serious problems would be heart failure, deep vein thrombosis (usually only one ankle) and kidney disease. If you have only one leg swollen you need to be seen in Emergency immediately to be evaluated for possible thrombosis. If both ankles are swollen it would be good to cut down on salt intake and see your doctor for exam and blood tests
