What Are The Suggestions For A Diabetic Patient?

IAM SUFFERING FROM SUGAR ( HBAIC 9.20 ON 14.11.2011) HAVE BEEN SUGGESTED BY FOLLOWING DRUGS ON DAILY BASIS 01.LANTUS POLOSTAR INSULIN 10UNITS DAILY AT NIGHT,02.DIAVAS-1 AT BEFORE FOOD ,03.COVERSYL -4mg at before food,04.nemobrin plus 05.glycomet sr-500MG at after night meal
IAM NOW AT 55 ,163CMS ,DIABETIC SINCE 2004.

Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

First let appreciate for your positive approach. Sir, In diabetes the main principle to remember to keep blood sugar levels under control. The medications you are prescribed are very effective in doing it. The other thing you need to remember are.
Take medication regularly, Check blood sugar levels frequently, Any uncontrolled levels, then meet treating doctor for his decision.

Diet and exercise has high importance as much as medication in controlling sugar levels.
Avoid single high concentrated meals.
Small frequent meals more times in a day.
Food high in fibre content like vegetables, whole pulses, fruits, etc.
Ideal combination of diabetic diet should be:--
Carbohydrates: 55-60%.
Fat: 30%.
Proteins: 15-20% (0.8g /kg /body wt).
Fibres 40 g/day.
Take unrestricted:--
Salads (cucumber, tomato, onion, raddish, salad leaves).
Vegetables (cabbage, baigan, lady fingers, french beans, methi, palak).
Fruits (except banana, chockoo or mangoes).
Sprouted beans and pulses.
Marie biscuit (with less sugar).
Clear soups, Lemon juice, Buttermilk

A 40 minute physical activity every day like morning walk, evening walk or a visit to the gym or swimming pool.
