Would The Usage Of Nystatin Cream Be A Reason For Smell?

I treated my yeast infection with an otc prefilled applicator. I had a clumpy white disharge, burning and itching but I alos had a bad odor. Not the odor associated with BV. This was strong and smelled unclean. Prior to using the OTC prefilled applicator, I used a mystatin cream prescribed by my gynocologist. Would this cause this odor?

Hello,

The smell is probably caused by the yeast infection. It is commonly a swear smell. I recommend to continue the Nystatin cream for local application. You also use oral antifungal medications such as Fluconazole 150 mg.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
