What Causes Sore Throat After Taking Nystatin?

I am currently taking liquid nystatin for thrush. I swish and swallow 4 times a day. I have a sore throat now. Not sure if it s from nystatin or I have a sore throat from cold or flu. Can I take extra strength Tylenol or extra strength Tylenol PM with nystatin?

Hi. Welcome to HealthCareMagic. Thanks for trusting us. I have understood your query.

Nystatin is an antifungal drugs which works locally. The side effects that may happen are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dermatitis. There's no effects which can cause flu like syndrome. I think sore throat that you have is caused by virus.

You can take Tylenol PM for your symptoms. Itu contains the combination of acetaminophen (pain reliever) and diphenhydramine (antihistamine). This drugs can be used for pain, sleeplessness, and also decreasing sneezing, runny nose, headache, fever caused by flu (common cold). If I were your treating doctor, I would suggest the dosage of maximum 2 caps in 24 hours. It's better to consume it at bedtime to help you get better sleep.
There's no interaction effect between Nystatin and Tylenol PM, so you can safely use both of them together.

To heal the diseases, you better do:
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Get an enough rest
3. Eat nutritious food, vegetables, fruit, some juices to help revitalize your immune system.
4. If the symptoms still happen or get worsen in ±3 days, please contact your local doctor to get more examination. Also if there's another side effects after taking the drugs.

I hope it can clarify your question. If there's anything you need to know more, feel free to discuss it with me in HealthCareMagic. Wish you will get well soon. Take care.
