my dr. just prescribed wellbutrin for me to aid with smoking I just picked it up and its for generic bupropion 100mg. trying to get info. on this and cant fine 100mg. plus it seems there is xl etc. all different kinds of initials on different some smoking some for weight loss some depression what is this if it has no initals on it I hope smoking and weight loss the reason I have smoked all these years because fear of gaining weight any info appreciated

Hi,

Bupropion aids in weight loss as well, so you need not worry about weight gain after quitting smoking. It is available in two forms, sustained release (SR) and extended release (XL). The SR formulations are available in doses of 75 mg and 150 mg and need to be taken twice a day. The XL preparations can be taken just once a day and so, are available in strengths of 150 mg and 300 mg. Call up your doctor and let him know that you could not get the 100 mg tablets and ask for an alternative.
