Dear sir, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Lipitor is used to treat
high cholesterol, and to lower the risk of stroke,
heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes,
coronary heart disease, or other risk factors. It is safe in Diabetics also. Only thing is they slightly increase blood sugar level.
Atorvastatin (Lipitor) is generally well-tolerated. Minor side effects include
constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, heartburn, and headache. Atorvastatin (Lipitor) may cause liver and muscle damage.
The other drugs for lowering cholesterol levels are nicotinic acid (niacin), fibric acid derivatives (fibrates), bile acid sequestrants, and cholesterol absorption inhibitors.
Hope this guides you. Thank you
