the way it is supposed to go, is stopping alcohol, then starting the withdrawal medication when there is actual withdrawal (mostly 1-3 days post drink, but sometimes a week after). Staying on the withdrawal meds for a few days until it is gone.
Covering first 2 days after alcohol.... works for many....cannot say in your particular case. Withdrawal is categorized by physical symptoms (agitation, increased pulse and sweats, can lead to seizures even fatal ones). and mental ones (hallucinations).
