Hello, Ovarian cysts are very common and it is often seen in women undergoing fertility treatment. Most of the simple cysts (which are most common) are harmless and usually goes away without any intervention. You have not mentioned the nature / features of the cyst. Rarely some cysts produce hormones and that can interfere with the ovulation process and affect fertility. Some other complex cysts may not be benign. If it is an endometriotic cyst then it can affect fertility as well. I can guide you better if you could share the ultrasound report describing the cyst. As you have been trying to conceive for last 3 years I hope you have been evaluated for other causes of infertility. If not please consider doing them. 1. blood tests - TSH, prolactin, AMH 2. Semen analysis 3. follicular study 4. HSG or any other tubal test 5.evaluating and treating local infection. If you are planning pregnancy now please consider discussing it with your health care provider so that you can be switched over to other fertility sparing treatment plans as OCPs will affect your chances of conception.
