Will Propylthiouracil 50 Mg Leads To Weight Gain?

Hi I am 45 and starting on propylthiouracil 50mg and curious if this causes weigh gain. I was on metamozile for seven weeks and gained six pounds but medication did noting for thyroid so doctoris changing. I hear good and bad things and wld rather not take anything but I don t have a choice. Tk you for your time

All medications have potential side effects that may or may occur but propylthiouracil is not known to be associated with weight gain.

It is possible, because it would help to normalise your thyroid function that weight gain may occur as the thyroid hormone levels become normal but this not due to the propylthiouracil itself.
