Why Hymen Breakage Didn't Happen After First Intercourse?

I had sex with my girlfriend 2 weeks ago. She was suppossed to be virgin and i expected her to bleed due to hymen breakage. But i found no traces of blood after we finished. She also got her period started the very next day. Does these periods have something to do with no hymen breakage or something else has gone wrong ? According to her, she never had her hymen breakage during any other activity like exercise or something. Please put some light on this.

Hello,
It is not necessary that the hymen should rupture always during the first intercourse. If the hymen is lax enough, it can allow the act while remaining intact. Menstrual cycles have nothing to do with the rupture of hymen. Of course, rupture of hymen can sometimes mimic a normal menstrual cycle. Also, it is not necessary that everyone should bleed after rupture of the hymen. It can happen silently. There may be slight pain only. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
