Why Do I Have Heavy Menstruation Cycles And How Can I Treat It ?

I m only 22 yrs old and I ve never had a steady period. I think the most periods I ve had in a whole year was about 3 or 4. And every time I get them, I get this sharp pain on my lower left side and my bleeding is always heavy. My doctor put me on Medroxyprogesterone but I never finish taking them because it just made it all worse. But this last time that I had my period (July 23-Aug 2) it was super heavy that I went through 3 tampon boxes, 1 super and 2 super plus. I was having to change like every two hrs. And my pain was so bad that I couldn t even walk, I looked very pale and my heart started to rapidly beat faster, which made me dizzy. Now, everyday since then, at least once a day my heart starts to beat fast out of no where, usually once I get out the shower. Any idea what this could all mean?!?!?!

Hi Ashley,
Welcome to HCM.
Since you had a heavy flow it seems like you have become anaemic due to which you had dizziness and increased heart beat. Check your haemoglobin levels and start iron tablets. You cam also have M2Tone to regularise your periods.
Take care.

Hi
Welcome to HCM
Read your prob, you should rule out the cause of irregular period by getting gonadal hormonal test, thyroid profile, sonography of uterus. you should get CBC as dizziness, paleness, rapid heart rate are symptomes of anemia n anemia is a cause of irregular period. consult it with your doc n start proper treatment.

Hi Ashley
Welcome to HCM
Rapid heart rate in your case is due to blood loss .
When we lose blood or are anemic our heart has to work extra hard to supply oxygen to the body.
Dizziness is also due to the same cause.
But you have not mentioned the diagnosis made by your doctor.first of all you need to undergo an ultrasound and some blood test for checking hemoglobin and thyroid etc.
Then your gynaecologist can start appropriate treatment for regular period.you may also need iron multivitamin supplements.so kindly visit your doctor.
Thanks
