Hello Ram and welcome,

It seems that your wife has developed essential hypertension. This means that it is no longer the raised blood pressure caused by pregnancy but she is now having the common blood pressure that most of the people have.

This happens in some women.

As of now there are a few reasons for this. Excess of thyroid and steroid hormones like those from the adrenal cortex can lead to raised blood pressure. Other causes are kidney problems, stress, excess weight ( her weight is a bit more), and excessive salt intake.

As of now, please consult a physician and get her evaluated for serum lipids, thyroid, eye test ( fundoscopy), renal scan and urine albumin test. These are important to help determine the effects of blood pressure on the body as well as help determine the cause of raised blood pressure.

Also ask her to decrease her weight by following a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in meat, salt and oil. Regular exercise also helps decrease blood pressure.
With these measures she must do well.
Take care.

Hope this was helpful.
