Why Am I Getting A Dark Spot In Peripheral Vision?

I have a dark spot in my peripheral vision. The dark spot is similar to if you were to stare at a bright light and look away, except its been there all day. When I stare at a white wall and blink rapidly that is when it is most apparent. I'm worried I could be loosing my vision.
