What Viral Disease Does Rashes, ear Pain And Swollen Glands Suggest?

My son is 7 yrs old. He has had high fever since last 8 days. About 6 days back he developed rash all over the body. We administered him Azithrall, Cetzine and Calpol. Both MP and Dengue are negative. Chest X Ray is clear. For last 2 -3 days he has been complaining of pain under his ears. Today the glands are swollen. His throat is still bad. Need help on diagnosis. We are told it is Viral, but unaware of the disease.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Since there is sore throat, pain below ears with increased glands in neck the probability is viral infection if all other blood tests are normal. Continue Calpol and Cetirizine. Skin rash is called exenthema and the commonest cause in a child is viral infection. But the fever is there for the last 7 days.

Hence, I would advise to have further investigations, blood for CBC to know the white cell count, tests for typhoid, blood culture and sensitivity can show any bacterial infection so that an appropriate antibiotic can be added. Give him bed rest. Cold sponging if the fever rises more. Further management as advised by your pediatrician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
