What Is The Use Of Doxycycline?

Hi, I have been on Implanon since Feb 2010 with no periods. Just last Monday I had to started to take Doxycycline for respiratory infection. I started having break through bleeding, could the Doxycycline caused this... I have read studies where Doxycycline is used to reduce the bleeding on Implannon... Could I just be the outlier? Also if this is infact happening because of the doxy does that mean my Implanon is ineffective for the time being?

Hello
Implanon is effective and working very well .
Doxycyline is a bacteriostatic antibiotics and relatively very safe antibiotics.
Neither It produces any bleeding not it reduces bleeding on implanon.
However there may be some myth but there is no scientific studies which prove that doxycyline interfere in uterine activities ( when female is not pregnant).
Hope this will help you.
