What Is The Treatment For The Nubothian Cysts On The Cervix And Discoloration?

When I went for a pap smear the doctor mentioned there were nubothian cyts on my cervix and one area which was discolored--a dark bluish area, they said not to worry, these cysts are harmless and the discoloration could be due to it bleeding. I went back for a f/u pap, and it was still there so they have recommended a colposcopy. Do you have any idea what this discoloration could mean?

Hello,
Nabothian cyst is a mucus filled cyst found on the surface of cervix occurs due to trapping of mucus in the glands overlying the cervix after process of Metaplasia/ infection/ other inflammatory conditions. these cysts are benign condition and disappear after menopause but in your condition the discoloration and persistence of cyst may be due to hormone mediated congestion/bleeding/ may be cancerous change. So follow instruction of your doctor.
Good luck, bye.
