What Is The Treatment For Adenoids With Width Of 12.6 Mm In Size For A 8 Year Old Child?

An MS (ENT) surgeon reported, after a visual examination of X-ray soft tissue neck of My grandson having age of 8 years and reported that there appear mildy prominent adenoids with a width of 12.6 mm. Let me know the effect of these adenoids on the health of my grandson and suggest the treatment for this.

Hi,
Thank you for your query. If adenoids are enlarged with infection a course of antibiotics are required to treat the infection and to decrease the swelling.
In addition an oral antihistamine such as cetirizine can be given to decrease the congestion.
If the adenoids are causing frequent and recurrent problems, they has to be removed surgically.
