I am a 51year old female. I have pain in my lower back when I stand for long periods or walk a reasonable distance. I also wake up up with a painful lower back. I have managed to sort this by wearing a vest in bed. I am most concerned about the pins & needles and weakness I get in my left lower leg/foot & sometimes the right as well. I broke my right ankle 3 Nov and spent 6 weeks non weight bearing on crutches. This gave me no problem a tall. Now back on 2 feet it has returned. An MRI shows 1.2mm anterior displacement of L4 upon L5. Mild faceto flaval hypertrophy in all lumber spine advanced at L4/L5. Disc desiccation @ L4/L5 with small protrusion. Narrowing subarticular spaces more on right, poss neural compromise to right L5 descending nerve root. There is disc desiccation at L5 S1 with a disc tear & a small posterior disc prorusion. I find the pins & needles the most difficult to deal with and seem to be the only person that has concerns about them. I did a 7 mile mile recently that I did about 18mths ago and had no problems yet this time I got p & n at least twice and my back was very sore the next day. I do not find the physio I got refered to very easy to talk too. I am keen to get rid of the pins & needles. Should I ask to see a consultant.
Medical history:
I have a 6 monthly steriod injection for pain management to my left hip. I am on HRT Prempak-C 1.25mg/0.15mg.
