What Is The Recovery Time For Viral Infection In Thyroid Gland?

I had viral infection in thyroid gland.now the reports are normal.i took defcort 30 mg for a month. now the doctor has started tapering of the medicene iam presently taking defcort 18 mg.ihave gained weight my face is swollen,stomach has become as if iam 5-6 months pregnant .when will i lose weight and face stomach become normal iwould like to the time period. also is defcort and predisone the same

Sorry to learn about your bothersome symptoms.
The outcome of viral thyroiditis is very individual.
It lasts usually up to 6 months.
Defcort belongs to corticosteroids group like prednisone.
It is very important to tapper the dose and not to stop it immediately because it may cause adrenal insufficiency.
The symptoms ocaused by corticosteroids will disappear after stopping the treatment.
