What Is The Cause Of Umbilical Pain?

Hello,

I am 38 and about 3 months ago after eating a lot of shrimp I had a severe pain in my umbilical area. I have had hernias here before. I got an upset stomach and pushed the hernia back in.

After I would eat I would have a really bad attack. I had chest pain, upper stomach pain, and mid back pain. The pain was as bad as child birth. I thought I had a kidney stone or something. An MRI was done. Nothing was found.

I continue to get episodes of this pain. Usually after I eat or my umbilical hernia has protruded out. I can't burp either. I feel like I need to but can't. The episode can go on for a good 30 minutes.

My family practioner ordered a CT scan with dye to look at my blood flow from my heart to stomach because he said that it did not sound right. He told me that I could have a plaque build up in my artery. I am a healthy person that has good cholesterol, so I don't see this to be the case. He also said that I could have a hiatal hernia.

What do you think?
