What Is The Cause Of Summer Cough?

We live in a hot humid environment and my son has developed a summer cough. Can the hot air with exercise be the cause from his bronchioles not dialating? My Nanny just him to the pediatrician for me and this is what she told me he said was the cause.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, hot and humid climate can cause coughing.
Extremes of temperature can cause inflammatory reaction in airways.
It is known as bronchitis.
This inflammation causes edema and mucus production.
These cause bronchospasm and bronchospasm cause coughing.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination, PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
He needs inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
So temperature related bronchitis is more likely in his case.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing him good health. Thanks.
