What Is The Cause Of Fever?

my 42 month old daughter has high fever (goes up to as high as 103.4) every 4-5 hours accompanied by chills and shivers....since last 48 hrs...today is day 3....i have been giving her meftal p (every 8 hrs sos) and alternating with calpol if fever rises before 8 hrs. no symptoms of cough or cold. should we investigate cause for fever or wait for some more time ? also, can i give meftal earlier than 8 hours ?

Thanks for youe query
Day 3 of an llness with fever range of 103.4 degree (with chills and shivering),suggests that a doctor should see the pateint and if required, investigated accordingly
For fever a better alternative is to give calpol every 5 hours if required.
In case fever rises above 104 degree, tap water sponging is recomended.
Along with sponging 1 dose of meftal( not meftal P) can be given.
Meftal can be repeated after 6 hours.
